Jack Miller
President and CEO
Jack Miller formed the Miller Group Worldwide
LLC in 2002 after more than 35 years of experience in higher
education development and as a management consultant in philanthropy.
Mr. Miller's university experience most recently included
the role of Vice Chancellor for University Advancement at
the University of Denver. In this capacity, he served as a
member of the University Cabinet and was responsible for development,
alumni, and parents programs. During his tenure, the University
of Denver successfully completed a $275 million capital campaign.
Mr. Miller also served as Vice President for University Advancement
at Colorado State University and Ball State University and
Executive Vice President/CEO of the University of Nebraska
Alumni Association.
An active professional in the field of university advancement,
Miller is nationally recognized as a strategist in university
philanthropy, working with both public and private universities.
A frequent lecturer on topics related to philanthropy, alumni
relations, and not-for-profit management, Miller has presented
to the Canadian Alumni Council, the Council for the Advancement
& Support of Education/CASE, and The American Fund Raising
Professionals. He was awarded the CASE Golden Steuben Apple
Award for Excellence in Development Teaching in 1993. Miller
is the author of chapters in both the Handbook
of Institutional Advancement, published by Jossey-Bass
and the Handbook for Alumni Administration
published by the American Council on Education and MacMillan
Publishing. Miller is the recipient of the Distinguished Service
Award from the University of Nebraska and the Distinguished
Service Award from CASE District VI. In 1993, Miller was selected
to be a member of the "50 for Colorado" statewide
leadership group.
Mr. Miller completed his Master's work at Eastern Michigan
University and holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration
from Washburn University. A world traveler, Mr. Miller has
visited or worked in 35 countries.
Jill Shelton
Executive Vice President
Jill Shelton joined the Miller Group in 2004. Since that time she has worked with over 20 clients on feasibility studies, internal assessments, campaign management, training, executive searches, and development office formation.
Jill started her consulting career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as a business strategy consultant. Her work there included projects for clients such as Washington Mutual, US Bank, and JP Morgan Chase where she specialized in organization design and development, training, and corporate communication. She also worked on several CRM (customer relationship management) projects involving data mining, analytics, and targeted marketing campaigns. From Accenture she was invited to join a joint-venture consulting firm (Avanade) owned by Microsoft and Accenture where she worked as a project manager on large-scale software development projects.
Jill graduated from the University of Denver. She holds a B.S.B.A. with majors in Finance and Economics and a minor in Leadership Studies. During college she played varsity volleyball, served as President of her Sorority, served as Vice President of the Student Alumni Organization, and spent a semester studying International Economics in Sweden. She has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Central America, and the United States.
Jill resides in Denver with her husband, Mark. She is an active member of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and The Giving Institute. She serves as a volunteer for Junior Achievement and Samaritan’s Purse. Outside of work she enjoys traveling, photography, fitness, and home improvement projects.
Kathy Ahlbrandt
Manager of Operations
Kathy Ahlbrandt retired from Colorado State University in August 2005 following a 33 year career. While at CSU, she served as support staff in the Colleges of Home Economics and Professional Studies, which were combined to form the College of Applied Human Sciences, Assistant to the Vice President for University Advancement, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Office Manager, and Assistant to the Dean and Office Manager in the College of Liberal Arts. Upon retiring, she joined the Miller Group as Manager of Operations. She was born and raised on the lower eastern shore of Maryland but has lived in Colorado now for 36 years. When not working, she enjoys her family and especially her only grandson, reading, traveling, boating, and golf.
